Visit to Buscot Park 15th May 24
A group of us were given a warm welcome when we made a private visit to Buscot Park in May. After an introduction with some history of the estate and The Faringdon Collection, we were invited into the imposing house.
The Curator of the Faringdon Collection led us around the interior and we were privileged to hear from her about the fabric and contents of the house. The Collection is still being added to and include some fabulous more recent paintings.
Following the informative house tour including the small theatre, we were encouraged to stroll through the extensive grounds. These include a large walled garden laid out in seasonal sections. The planting is interesting and beautifully maintained. There are wonderful views and the renowned water gardens lead one to the lake.
Some sculptures are also on exhibition for this summer.
There is a tea shop and also tables and chairs where we were permitted to picnic as we were the only visitors until public opening at 2.30 pm.
We all agreed it was a thoroughly enjoyable opportunity to see and learn about the house and garden and anyone who hasn’t been to Buscot House should put it on their list of places to go.
