This visit will be made in your own transport

Charterhouse is a former Carthusian monastery dating from 1348. It is in London located between Barbican and Smithfield Market. Since the dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th century the site has served as a private mansion, a boys’ school and an alms house.

The Charterhouse is custodian of a wide range of historic objects which have been acquired over the course of it’s 660 year history.

For more information of this fascinating place please see their website Click here.

We have arranged for a private tour of the house and garden starting at 11.15am. After this you are welcome to wander at your leisure. Tea and coffee will be served from 10.45am in the learning centre.

There is no café but you are welcome to take a picnic to eat in Charterhouse Square. There are plenty of places to eat nearby.

The cost of the outing is £31.50 per person to include tea or coffee. Numbers are limited so please book promptly.

Please Note If you are having difficulties locating The Charterhouse you can use the postcode EC1M 6AH for the Malmaison Hotel which is just down from the Museum entrance. Gates open at 10.30.
